Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County   |   Tampa, FL

The Read on myON project is a community-wide model for literacy that launched in February 2012 to address the summer slide.  Through a collaborative effort between Hillsborough County Public Schools and several non-profit organizations, children from birth to grade 8 and their families, have equitable access to books to encourage reading, increase literacy rates, and promote reading throughout the community all year long.  Partner organizations including the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative, United Way Suncoast, BOCC Head Start, Tampa Housing Authority and the Early Learning Coalition are working with the school district to cultivate a culture of reading for every child and family.
