Executive Team

Todd Brekhus

President

Todd Brekhus is an education technology innovator who created the strategy behind myON. 

He was previously Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for PLATO Learning, President and COO of Learning Elements, and Education Program Director for MCI WorldCom, where he helped build and implement the renowned MarcoPolo program. Todd also spent eight years as a technology leader in schools.  In 2014, Todd was awarded the prestigious LampLighter Visionary award by the Association of American Publishers and was recently named the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient by SIIA Company CODiE Awards for his ongoing contributions to the educational technology industry.*  Todd attended The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School and has a BA in Communications and Business from Concordia College.

Todd’s love of reading was sparked by The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, and any sports biography he could find as a kid.  “The Narnia books were the first books to really explore finding new worlds,” shared Todd, “and the idea of truly taking a reading adventure.”

Eric Doan

CFO

Eric Doan is responsible for all financial and accounting aspects of the company and brings nearly 20 years of operations and financial management experience to myON.

Prior to joining myON, Eric served as Chief Operations Officer for Jump Technologies, an innovative software company that provides cloud-based mobile solutions for supply management in hospitals and as Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis for Healthland.  His progressive career spans healthcare, technology and hardware.  Eric holds an MBA from Miami University of Ohio, as well as Bachelor of Arts degrees in Classical Humanities and Zoology.

When Eric was little, he was a fan of the Choose Your Own Adventure series, “because they were different every time you read them!” 

Sarah DiFrancesco

Vice President of Marketing

Sarah DiFrancesco joined the company in 2017 and brings over 20 years of leadership experience to myON. 

Most recently serving as Vice President of Business Development for Barnes & Noble, Sarah had a long career with Barnes & Noble that spanned a variety of roles including operations, buying and marketing.  In her last role she was responsible for all aspects of institutional and corporate sales, the bookfair fundraising program, PreK-12 educator sales and outreach, and all national events and initiatives. Sarah was instrumental in launching the NOOK in Education program that was adopted in several large school districts across the country.  She holds a BSBA in Marketing from the University of Denver and several certifications.

Sarah’s passion for literacy started when her father read to her A Circus of Our Own by Irmengarde Eberle.  Although she could not read at the time, she heard the story so many times she was able to recite it from memory.

Elyse August

Vice President of Services

Elyse is responsible for the delivery of professional services, technical support, customer onboarding, and implementation for myON.

She has been involved in teacher education for many years focusing on continuous improvement.  Prior to joining myON, Elyse was a Senior Educational Consultant and Project Manager of Strategic Accounts at Capstone Digital.  Previously, she spent many years in sales and services for PLATO Learning.  Elyse holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Science in Reading, along with several training certifications.

When asked about her passion for literacy she responded, “My favorite books growing up were the ones written by Judy Blume. She helped me to make sense of the world around me.” 

Gail Lewis

Director of Product Strategy

Gail is responsible for business development and identifying / defining product strategies at myON.

Over the past 20 years, she has worked with diverse standard groups, such as MARBI (for MARC records) and the U.S. Department of Education Technical Working Group (for the Learning Registry), and is a current board member at SIIA-ETIN. Prior to joining myON, Gail worked with Capstone where she helped define digital strategy and market resulting products like PebbleGo, as well as at Nichols Advanced Technologies and Sagebrush, where she tested, developed and expanded library automation products. She has a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies, and several certifications.

Gail’s favorite childhood book was A Wizard of Earthsea, by Ursula K. Le Guin. “It made me believe that anything is possible, but nothing comes without commitment (and sometimes, costs).”  She went on to say, “The labyrinth in the second Earthsea book (The Tombs of Atuan) is still dark and memorable after many years since my first reading.”
